About this cabochon huggie earrings

The earring is a huggie: a short hoop that sits close to the lobe rather than hanging below it. All the detail is on the front face, where three stones are set one above another in plain gold-tone cups — two larger domes with a small clear stone beneath them, so the run tapers instead of ending flat. The back half of the hoop is left as a row of small raised beads, which catches light as the earring turns and gives the piece a texture you can feel with a fingertip.

The stones are cabochons: cut smooth and domed with no facets, so they read as colour and sheen rather than sparkle. Four colour stories run through the style — a deep blue, a green with darker striations, a warm brown next to an amber tone, and a soft off-white. Because they are smooth-cut, the colour is the whole point, and a tray of the four together reads as a colour family rather than four unrelated earrings.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Questions about this cabochon huggie earrings

Are the stones faceted?

No. They are cabochons — cut smooth and domed with no facets, so they show colour and a soft sheen instead of sparkle. The small clear stone at the bottom of the run is a cubic zirconia and is the only faceted stone on the earring.

How many stones are on each earring?

Three on the front face: two larger domed stones above and one small clear stone below them. The rest of the hoop is metal, with a row of raised beads along the back half.

Are these hoops or huggies?

Huggies. The hoop is short and sits close against the lobe rather than swinging below it, which is what makes the beaded back half visible from the side.

Can I order a single colour?

Yes. Each colour story is quoted as its own line, so a run in one colour is normal; a mixed tray of all four is quoted the same way, colour by colour.
