It is the part most likely to go, so we set the hinge fit and test the snap on the approved sample rather than trusting the cast. A good huggie closes with a positive click and sits flush against itself; a cheap one works loose and the ends stop meeting cleanly. If your market returns jewellery easily, approve the sample in your hand rather than from a photograph, because a good hinge and a poor one look identical on screen.
Can it be worn in the shower or to sleep?
The steel itself is fine in water and will not tarnish, rust or leave a mark, so a huggie can be worn through a shower or a swim.
