Moissanite · lab-grown · quoted per project
Moissanite in 925 silver, quoted per project, never from a band
Moissanite is **lab-grown silicon carbide**. It is harder and more dispersive than cubic zirconia, which is why it costs more — and it is not a diamond, so any page that implies otherwise is misleading you. We supply it as a **stone option inside our 925 sterling silver line**, quoted per project, because the price moves with carat, colour grade, cut and setting. We do not hold it as a ready-stock line.

Material comparison
Moissanite against the two things it gets confused with
| Moissanite | Cubic zirconia | Lab-grown diamond | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Lab-grown silicon carbide | Lab-grown zirconium dioxide | Lab-grown diamond |
| Hardness (Mohs) | About 9.25 | About 8–8.5 | 10 |
| Durability in daily wear | Holds a polish for years | Scratches and dulls faster | Holds a polish for years |
| Fire / dispersion | Higher than diamond | Lower than diamond | The reference point |
| Relative cost | Middle | Lowest | Highest |
| Disclosure you owe your customer | Lab-created | Lab-created (usually stated as CZ) | Lab-created |
All moissanite is lab-grown
Most moissanite sold anywhere is laboratory-grown: natural moissanite occurs only in meteorites and in sizes far too small to set. That is not a compromise, it is the only commercial supply. It does mean the disclosure matters — you should tell your customers it is lab-created, and so should we.
- Lab-grown silicon carbide — hardness about 9.25 Mohs
- More dispersion than diamond, which is the visible difference
- Set in 925 sterling silver as standard
- Not held as a ready-stock line — quoted per project
- Disclosed as lab-created on the packing and the specification
Not a band
Why this page has no price band
The reason we quote it per project rather than from a band is that a moissanite order is specified, not picked. A 1 ct equivalent stone and a 3 ct equivalent stone are not the same product with a different price; they are different stones with different colour grades and different settings. One number on a page would mislead you on most of what you ask for.
| If this changes… | …the price changes |
|---|---|
| Stone gets larger | Disproportionately — larger rough is scarcer |
| Colour grade tightens | Per step of grade, not per percent |
| Cut gets more complex | More rough wasted per finished stone |
| Setting becomes a halo | More stones, more setting time, more inspection |
| Certificate required | Priced as its own line, because it is one |
| Quantity per design rises | Stone cost per piece usually falls |
To quote
What we need before we can price it
None of this has a published band, so the brief is the quotation. Send these six things and you get an itemised price back rather than a range.
| Item | What to send |
|---|---|
| Stone size | Millimetres, or the carat equivalent you are selling against |
| Shape and cut | Round brilliant, oval, emerald, cushion, pear — a photograph works |
| Colour grade | The grade you are prepared to sell, not the one you would prefer |
| Setting | Prong, bezel, halo, channel — and whether the stones are the whole design |
| Metal and plating | 925 sterling silver as standard; other metals quoted as their own line |
| Quantity per design | Per design, not per order — the minimum is the same as the rest of the site |
What we will not do is publish a moissanite price we have not quoted. If you need a figure before you brief us, ask for the silver stock lines instead — those have published bands because they are repeatable. Moissanite becomes repeatable once the stone is fixed.
