Rings
A ring is the only piece of jewellery that has to fit a measurement, which makes it the one category where a design can be perfect and the order still fails. Sizes differ by market — US, EU (ISO), UK alphabetical, and the Chinese and Japanese numberings all describe the same finger differently — so the first question on any ring order is which standard your customer reads.
The second variable is band width, and it is where weight goes. A 2 mm band on a size 7 is around half the metal of a 6 mm band on the same finger, and in stainless steel that difference shows up directly in the price because metal is the main cost. We publish the width and the weight together so the quote is checkable rather than a number to argue with.
