Private label · your mark on our pieces
Private label jewellery: your logo on the piece and the packaging
Private label means your logo on a piece we already make, not a new design. The mark can go on a hang tag, an insert card, the box, the bag or a sticker, and on many pieces it can be laser-engraved or stamped. There is no separate marking minimum: the order runs at the piece's own figure — 10 pcs on stock lines, 30 pcs in silver and brass, 50 pcs in steel. Marking and packaging are quoted as their own lines.

Where the mark goes
Five positions, and one that needs care
Branding is not one decision. The tag, the card and the box are print work you can change cheaply; the mark on the piece is a production step that goes on the drawing.
| Position | Good fit? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Hang tag | Yes | A die-cut card with your logo, tied on with string or a plastic loop. The cheapest branded position and it can be added to a stock order without touching the piece. |
| Insert card | Yes | A printed card in the pouch or box — your mark, care instructions and a thank-you. Ships flat and adds almost no freight volume. |
| Box, bag or pouch | Yes | Printed or foil-blocked with your artwork. The strongest brand impression, but packaging is volume rather than weight, so it changes your freight as well as your unit cost. |
| Sticker or tamper seal | Yes | The fastest and lowest-cost way to brand an unbranded box or polybag, and the one that lets you change the packaging later without reprinting it. |
| On the piece — laser engraved | Usually | Flat and gently curved surfaces take a laser mark cleanly. Depth and legibility are confirmed on a photograph of the first marked piece before the run continues. |
| On the piece — stamped, 925 silver | Case by case | A hallmark on a precious-metal piece is a legal statement in many markets, not decoration. Whether your mark can sit beside a 925 or S925 stamp, and in what form, depends on the rules of the market you sell in — so we confirm the wording and the position on the drawing for each order rather than give a general answer. |
Where we will not put a mark. We do not reproduce another brand's logo or a recognisable protected design, and we will not stamp a piece in a way that misstates its material. If your market regulates hallmarking, tell us the market and we will confirm the marking rules for that destination before production, rather than assume they are the same everywhere.
Marking methods
Laser, stamp, print or foil
Each method suits a different surface and a different material. The batch size that applies is the piece's own published minimum, because the mark is applied to pieces you are already ordering.
| Method | Where it works | Minimum that applies | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser engraving | Silver, steel and plated brass — flat and gently curved surfaces | The piece's own minimum: 10 pcs on stock lines, 30 pcs in silver and brass, 50 pcs in steel | The usual choice for a logo on a charm, a cuff, an ID plate or the inside of a band. Quoted as its own line, and the first marked piece is photographed for your approval. |
| Hand stamping (steel die) | 925 silver and brass; flat surfaces with enough metal behind them | The piece's own minimum (30 pcs in silver and brass) | Gives a deeper, softer mark than a laser. The die is a one-off setup, so it suits a reorder; on silver the mark has to be consistent with the hallmark rules for the market. |
| Silk-screen or pad print | Flat plated surfaces; strongest on brass and steel | The piece's own minimum (30 pcs brass, 50 pcs steel) | Suited to a colour logo on a flat tag or plate rather than fine detail on a curved piece. Quoted as its own line. |
| Hot foil stamping | Packaging: cards, boxes, tags and belly bands | Follows the packaging order, not the jewellery minimum | The gold or coloured foil finish most brands want on a card or a box. It is a packaging line, so it is priced with the packing rather than with the piece. |
Packaging
Unbranded, or your own artwork
The packaging decides what the customer feels before she sees the piece, and it is the line that is easiest to underestimate. It is also the cheapest way to look like a brand.
| Packaging | What it is | Cost treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Unbranded | Plain polybag or a plain suede or velvet pouch, no print | The default and the lowest-cost option; a plain pouch ships flat and adds little volume. |
| Custom printed | Your artwork on a card, a box, a pouch, a belly band or a ribbon | Quoted as its own line, because it depends on the material, the print method and the quantity — it is not folded into the piece price. |
| Mixed approach | Your mark on the card and the pouch, with a plain box | Usually the cheapest way to look branded: the print sits on the flat items and the box stays unbranded. |
Whether the packaging counts towards the piece price: it does not. Packaging is quoted as its own line, the same way we quote it on every other page of this site, because the cost depends on the material, the print method and the quantity rather than on the piece. Two orders of the same ring can differ by more in the box than in the metal.
| Engravable piece | Material | Published band | Published at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charm or small pendant | 1.5–3.0 g silver | $6.50 – 13.00 | 100 pcs |
| Charm or small pendant | Steel base | $0.60 – 1.60 | 500 pcs |
| Charm or small pendant | Brass / copper | $0.55 – 1.40 | 500 pcs |
Private label vs OEM/ODM
Two routes, one carton
The frequent confusion is treating private label and OEM/ODM as the same service, when they differ in exactly one thing: whether the shape changes.
| Private label | OEM / ODM | |
|---|---|---|
| What changes | Only the marking: your logo on a shape we already make | The design: an existing shape modified, or a new mould built |
| Design fee | None on a stock silhouette — the shape already exists | Design and CAD work; a mould or die is a one-off cost |
| Minimum | The piece's own minimum: 10 pcs stock, 30 pcs silver and brass, 50 pcs steel | 30 pcs per design in silver and brass, 50 pcs in steel |
| Timeline | Stock dispatch in 3–7 days days, or the made-to-order lead if the piece is not held | CAD in 48 hours, sample in 7–15 days, then production |
| Start here when | You have a shape you like and want it under your name | You need a shape, a dimension or a construction that does not exist yet |
If the shape itself has to change — a different band width, an exclusive silhouette, a new stone setting — that is the OEM/ODM route, and it starts with a CAD drawing in 48 hours. Private label is the cheaper first step for a brand that has not committed to a design yet, and moving from one to the other later costs you nothing you have already paid for.
Timeline
From zero to first order, stage by stage
Only one stage is optional. A stock shape that carries your mark and your packaging skips the drawing and the sample entirely.
| Stage | Timeline | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| CAD drawing (only if the shape changes) | 48 hours | A dimensioned drawing with weight, sizes, plating thickness and where your mark sits. |
| Physical sample | 7–15 days | One piece in your material and plating; sample cost quoted as its own line and credited against the run. |
| Marking approval | With the sample | A photograph or the marked piece itself, so you approve the depth and the legibility rather than just the file. |
| Production | Silver 20–30 days · steel 15–25 days · brass 12–20 days | Starts after you approve the sample. Packing runs alongside production. |
| Stock lines | Dispatch in 3–7 days days | When the shape is a stock design and only the marking or the packing is new. |
On a stock silhouette where only your mark and the packaging are new, there is no design fee and no CAD round: the order runs at the stock minimum of 10 pcs per design and dispatches in 3–7 days days, with the marking and the packing as separate lines. That is usually the right first private-label order — brand the box, sell the piece, then commit to a marked or a custom build once it has sold.
