About this wax cord green stone necklace

The strand is the point of difference: this is waxed cord, not a metal chain. It is braided, close-woven and matte, in a warm brown that sits against the gold tone instead of matching it, and it holds a soft curve on the neck where a chain would fall in a harder line. The cord is finished at the closure with a short gold-tone extension, so the necklace can be let out a little without changing the pendant's position on the cord.

The pendant is a metal frame rather than a solid plate: a gold-tone surround with a split double loop at the top, and one deep green faceted stone set flush inside it so the frame closes around the stone on all four sides. The stone is cut with a flat table and straight facets, so it reads as a single block of deep green with flashes across the face rather than as a sparkle. We describe it as a coloured faceted stone and by its colour, because the trade name and what the eye sees do not settle the question — confirm the shade on a sample.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Is the strand a chain?

No. It is waxed cord: braided cord run through wax, so it is matte and holds a curve instead of falling in the hard line a chain does. The metal parts are the pendant frame, the loops and the short extension at the closure.

What is the green stone?

A deep green faceted stone with a flat table, set flush inside the gold-tone frame. We describe it by colour and cut rather than by a mineral or trade name, because the name and the appearance do not settle it — confirm the shade on a sample.

Does the pendant slide on the cord?
