About this stone & tag pendant necklaces

This is a family of cast pendants rather than one design, and the surface is the constant: each piece is formed in relief, so the sunburst rays, the compass points, the concentric rings of the coin medallion and the textured face of the heart all catch light along their edges instead of lying flat. Several carry a cubic zirconia at the centre, while two use mother-of-pearl — a white heart set with a cubic zirconia star, and an oval with a gold-tone sun-ray motif laid over the shell. A softly rounded rectangular tag, etched with moon and star motifs and set with cubic zirconia, is the one flat pendant in the range.

Because it is a range, each pendant is quoted on its own, so you take only the motifs your market buys rather than the whole tray. The clear settings are cubic zirconia, a man-made stone rather than a natural one, so colour and size stay even across a run; the white inlays are mother-of-pearl, a shell rather than a gemstone, so the sheen varies slightly from piece to piece. 316L

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design.
