A single fan of pleated metal, ribbed like a folded leaf and set at a slant on the lobe. Six small stones sit down the folds, so the sparkle follows the pleats instead of sitting on top of them.

About this pleated fan stud earrings
The stud is one pleated plate: parallel ribs radiate from a narrow point and open into a scalloped edge, with the surface folded so each rib catches light at a slightly different angle. The plate is set at a slant rather than flat, so on the ear it reads as a wing rather than as a disc. It is a single piece of metal with no hinge or drop, which keeps it flat to the lobe and light enough for an all-day stud.
Six small round cubic zirconia are set along the folds, spaced so they follow the curve of the fan rather than forming a line. Because the stones are set between the ribs, the metal still carries the shape and the stones read as highlights inside it. One design, one size, gold tone over 316L steel.

The grade, in plain terms
Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.
Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Questions about this pleated fan stud earrings
How big is the fan on the ear?
It covers a large part of the lobe and reaches past it, because the plate is set at a slant. We confirm the exact face size on a sample rather than quoting a figure here.
Do the stones sit in prongs?
They are set into the metal between the pleats, with the ribs around them, so the edges of the fan stay metal. That is why the sparkle follows the folds.
Are the two earrings identical?
They are a mirrored pair: the fan slants one way on the left and the other way on the right, so the two read as a matched set on the face.
Can it be worn all day?
Yes. It is a flat single plate on a post with no drop, so there is no weight swinging from the lobe. The stones are small enough that the piece stays light.
