About this asymmetric stone drop earrings

This is a range of two designs, and in both the pair is intentionally mismatched. Design A works in black and white: a spotted oval stone at the top of one ear, a plain black rectangular stone on the other, and a spotted teardrop closing each drop. Design B runs warmer — a brick-red oval, a champagne marquise-cut cubic zirconia, a brown banded square stone and an amber teardrop, split across the two ears so the shapes never mirror.

Everything hangs from a fine gold-tone fish-hook, with the stones linked in a short vertical line rather than a single setting, so the earring moves as one piece. The stones are natural, which means colour and pattern vary from pair to pair — a spotted stone will not repeat, and a banded one will not band identically. The two designs are quoted separately, by the pair.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Is the pair meant to be uneven?

Yes, by design. Each earring carries a different stone in a different shape, so the two sides do not mirror. It is not a packing fault.

Which stones are in design B?

A brick-red oval, a brown banded square and an amber teardrop in natural stone, with a champagne marquise-cut cubic zirconia as the one lab-made accent.

Will my pairs look exactly like the photo?
