About this double starfish anklet
This ankle chain is a two-strand piece. The upper strand is an open oval link chain, each link a slim flat oval that leaves space between it and the next. The lower strand is a finer cable chain, and it does the decorating: open-work five-petal starfish charms alternate with small gold-toned ball beads along its length. Both strands are held by the same clasp, so the layers sit together and cannot slide apart on the ankle.
The whole piece is 316L stainless steel with a gold-tone electroplated finish, so it holds its colour in everyday wear and does not have to come off for a shower. It closes with a lobster clasp and an extension chain, which matters on an ankle piece because ankle sizes vary more than wrists. The grade, in plain terms
Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.
Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Questions about this double starfish anklet
Is this a bracelet or an ankle chain?
It is an ankle chain. It is built to sit at the ankle, ordered to your size, and carries an extension chain because ankle measurements vary more than wrists. We can build the same two strands as a bracelet on request.
Are the charms starfish or flowers?
The motif is a starfish: five open petals cut through a formed steel body, so the layer stays light. Up close the shape reads as a five-petal flower, which is why it also suits floral displays.
Does the oval link strand come off?
No. Both strands are held by the same lobster clasp, so the piece goes on and off as one and the layers cannot twist apart. If you want either strand sold on its own, tell us and we will quote it separately.
Can it be worn in the sea?
Yes. 316L stainless steel with a gold-tone finish is made for everyday wear including a swim; plating thickness is confirmed at quoting so you can match it to how your market wears it.
