This is one ankle chain built from two strands. The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Is this one anklet or two?

It is one ankle chain. Two strands — a plain link chain and a bead chain — are joined at a single clasp, so you fasten one clasp and the pair sits as a layered line on the ankle.

Are the beads stones or pearls?
