About this bead station anklet

This is a single-strand ankle chain, and the design is the spacing. The chain is a fine, rounded link running the whole way round, interrupted at fixed intervals by a small round metal bead — a station — so the run reads as a row of even dots rather than a plain chain. There is no pendant and no stone; the beads are formed metal in the same steel as the chain. Because it is one strand and one clasp, it sits flat on the ankle and does not twist into a second line.

The light weight suits all-day wear and travel retail, where a fine chain on its own is easier to sell than a heavy statement piece. It is quoted per strand, and the supplier runs the same chain in two finishes, so a small colour wall can be built from one order. The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Questions about this bead station anklet

Is this an anklet or a bracelet?

It is an ankle chain, made to be worn at the ankle. The same fine chain can be run as a bracelet if you prefer, but this line is sized and quoted for the ankle.

Are the beads stones?

No. The stations are round metal beads in the same 316L steel as the chain, not stones and not pearls, so there is nothing to crack or discolour.

How is the bead spacing set?

The beads sit at fixed intervals set by the maker, so the run is even. If you want a specific spacing, tell us and we will confirm what the line can do before quoting.

Can the length match what I sell now?
