About this rectangular id tag

This is the plainest tag in the range, and the panel is what sells it: 38 by 22 mm of flat face inside a narrow border, which is enough for a pet name on one line and a phone number on the next. At 1.2 mm the plate is thick enough to stay flat when it hangs from a collar and to hold an engraved groove without bowing; a thinner blank saves metal but dents at the corner the first time it hits a food bowl. Six colours are offered — steel, pink, purple, yellow, black and royal blue — so one order can cover a shop's whole colour card.

Two things decide your price. The first is how the face is coloured: a coloured coating on a steel blank costs less than a two-tone tag where the border and lettering stay steel and only the recess is filled, and the second version is what most buyers end up wanting because it keeps the reading edge bright. The second is the engraving: laser marking is quick and suits fine detail, mechanical engraving cuts deeper and survives rougher use, and depth on the back as well as the front is a separate pass. Questions about this rectangular id tag

Can the tag be engraved on both sides?

Yes. Front and back are separate engraving passes, so they are quoted separately. Most buyers put the name on the front and the contact number on the back.

Will the colour wear off the face?

The colour sits on a steel blank, so wear shows first at the raised border and the rim where the tag knocks against a bowl or a buckle. How long it lasts depends on the coating build you choose, which is why we quote coating options instead of promising a service life.

Is this tag light enough for a small dog or a cat?

The plate is 1.2 mm stainless steel at 38 by 22 mm, which is a mid-size blank. For toy breeds and cats we would normally steer you to a smaller plate; tell us the animal and we will say honestly whether this size suits it.

Can I mix colours in one order?

Yes, and it is the usual way to open a range. Each colour is quoted as its own line, so order depth in the two or three that sell and singles in the rest.
