About this glitter bone id tag

The bone outline is the whole point here, and the glitter sits under a clear enamel layer rather than on top of the metal, so it reads as depth rather than as a sprinkle. Two sizes are offered: 31 by 20 mm at 5.4 g for small breeds, and 45 by 30 mm at 9 g for medium and large. Both take the same engraving panel width per size, so the type you fit on the small one will not simply scale up on the large. Twelve colours are available, including greens, blues, orange and red.

Glitter enamel is where this tag earns or loses its money. Coverage has to be even and the clear top layer has to be thick enough to sit level, or the glitter pools at the edge of the fill and the tag looks patchy at the rim; a second colour therefore costs more in this finish than in a plain one. Weight is the other practical point — 9 g is a real load on a small dog's collar and will swing, so most buyers run the small size as their main line and keep the large for medium and large breeds rather than as a volume item.

Questions about this glitter bone id tag

Is the glitter on the surface?

No. It sits in the enamel under a clear cap, so it reads as depth. A surface sprinkle would shed within weeks, which is why this build is quoted instead.

Which size should I stock?

The small at 31 by 20 mm and 5.4 g covers most small and toy breeds; the large at 45 by 30 mm and 9 g is for medium and large. Stocking both is normal, but depth belongs on the small.

Why does a second colour cost more in this finish?

Because each colour is a separate enamel fill under its own clear cap, and the cap has to sit level or the glitter pools at the rim. That is hand work, not a printing pass.

Does the enamel chip?

Any enamel can chip if the tag takes a hard knock on a hard edge, and the rim is where it starts. The raised rim is there partly to take that hit instead of the fill; we quote enamel build rather than promise a service life.
