Each necklace here is three chains, not one. The strands are of different links and different lengths and are joined at a single clasp, so the layered look is fixed when the necklace is worn rather than something the customer has to build. The set runs to nine styles: three plain chains of graduated length, chains with small gold beads, a herringbone against a curb and a cable, a bead strand paired with a thick oval curb, a paperclip link that pairs a steel tone with gold, and further snake, box and herringbone combinations.

One style finishes with a cubic zirconia teardrop drop and the rest are all chain, so the range covers a plain offer and a single accent piece. Because the three strands are joined at the clasp, the lengths are set by the design rather than chosen strand by strand; the metal is 316L stainless steel and the gold is a gold tone, so the piece does not tarnish. The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Is this three necklaces or one?

It is one necklace made of three chains. The strands are of different links and lengths and are joined at a single clasp, so it is worn as a single piece.

Do the lengths adjust?

The three strands are fixed at the clasp by the design, so the layer spacing is set rather than adjustable strand by strand. Tell us the length your market buys and we will quote per style.

Is the metal two-tone?

Some styles are. A few mixed-link styles pair a steel-tone link with gold tone, and one is a two-tone paperclip; the rest are gold tone throughout. Steel tone and two-tone are quoted on request.

Is the drop a natural stone?

No. The one stone-drop style uses cubic zirconia, which is a man-made stone, not a natural one.
