A Cuban link is the most-ordered steel chain in the catalogue and the simplest to specify, because the only variable customers notice is width. In steel that is also most of the cost, so we quote it by weight per length rather than as a single figure, and you can see exactly what each millimetre of width adds.
Two details decide whether it comes back as a complaint. The clasp has to be sized to the chain — a 12 mm Cuban with a small lobster clasp holds, but it feels undersized and it is the first thing to fail. And the links have to be soldered closed, not merely pressed, or a single link opens under load and the chain is gone.

Chain length is a market decision, not a technical one, and in steel it also changes the weight. 50 cm is the volume seller in most men's markets; 55 cm and above layers over clothing. A longer chain in the same width is not a free variation of a shorter one — it carries more metal.

FAQ
Questions about this cuban link chain
Why is the chain priced by weight rather than per piece?
Because in steel the metal is most of the cost. A 12 mm chain and a 5 mm chain of the same length are the same product with very different amounts of metal in them, and quoting them at one price would mean overcharging for the light one or losing money on the heavy one. We publish the grams per width and length so the metal line in your quotation is something you can check, not take on trust.
Will the clasp hold a heavy chain?
Only if it is sized to the chain, which is why we do not downgrade it to save a few cents. On a 10 mm or 12 mm Cuban the clasp is the part under the most load and the usual point of failure, so we fit a lobster or box clasp rated for the weight and test the opening and closing action on the run. If the chain is sold as everyday wear, tell us and we will not trade the clasp away.
Does it tarnish or leave a mark on skin?
No. 316L contains 2–3% molybdenum, which is what resists salt water and sweat, and it contains no copper to leach, so it will not tarnish, rust or leave a green mark. That is why this chain is the one we recommend for anything marketed as waterproof. If you want the chain gold-toned, we default to PVD, which is harder and more abrasion-resistant than an electroplated coating of the same colour.
