About this elephant & bird brooch
The line holds two shapes rather than one. The elephant is cut with a raised, curled trunk as a single flat piece; the bird is cut in flight, wings swept and legs trailing. Both are polished on the face and run in gold tone as shown and in a steel tone. Because each motif is one piece of steel with no stone or enamel, there is nothing to fall out or discolour in wear.
Each shape is fixed with a pin post and a safety catch rather than a magnet, so it grips woven fabric and stays put on a lapel, scarf or knit. Choose the shape you want and we quote per piece; the two shapes can be ordered together or apart, and we confirm what is in production now.

The grade, in plain terms
Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.
Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. If your market needs documentation with the goods, tell us and we will confirm what is available on this design before you order.

Is this a magnetic brooch?
No. Each shape is fixed with a pin post and a safety catch at the back, so it holds to woven fabric and does not rely on a magnet.
What metal is it?
Both shapes are 304 stainless steel. This line is 304, not 316L. If you need 316L — for example for pieces that will meet sea water or pool chlorine — tell us and we quote it separately in 316L.
Are the elephant and the bird sold together?
They are two shapes in one line, each quoted as its own line, so you can order one shape or both. Ask us for a quote on the mix you want and we will confirm which are in production now.
