About this cz collar necklace, rigid

This collar is a formed, rigid piece. The band is shaped and hardened so it holds an open curl around the neck and keeps its line on its own; it is not a soft chain that drapes, and it does not lie flat the way a chain does. A single cubic zirconia sits in a bezel at the front centre, suspended so it moves a little against the band, and the back closes with a clasp and a short adjustment extension.

Because the band is formed rather than linked, most of the metal goes into the shaping itself: the collar takes more steel than a chain of the same span, and that is the main reason it sits above the chains rather than beside them. The stone is cubic zirconia, a man-made stone rather than a natural one, so colour and size stay even across a run. The drop is offered in several cuts, including a marquise, a round, a teardrop and a rectangular step cut.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. No. It is a rigid formed collar: one open band shaped to hold its curl around the neck. It does not drape or lie flat the way a chain does.
