About this chain tassel earring range

The drop is a chain rather than a solid bar, and the design is in what is fixed along it. Each stone sits in a metal bezel that is linked into the chain, so the stations are held evenly down the run instead of bunched at the end; there is no strung bead to fray. The range sets round, square, baguette, marquise and teardrop stones this way, and it also runs an oval-link chain set with a line of crystals and a princess-cut chain that carries a star motif.

Colour is the other choice. Some styles stay clear, others work through a mixed colourway of pink, amber, purple, blue and green, and a few use a coloured stone rather than cubic zirconia; where that is the case we describe it simply as stone. Because it is a range, each chain is quoted as its own line, so a mixed run is normal and you take only the drops your market sells. Steel tone is also quoted if you run a steel-colour wall.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. What holds each station on the chain?

Each stone is set in a metal bezel that is linked into the chain, so the stations are fixed along the run rather than strung; there is no bead to fray.

Are the coloured pieces a natural stone?

The stations are cubic zirconia, a man-made stone. Where a coloured stone is used we describe it simply as stone rather than naming a gemstone, and colours can be matched to your range.

Is the finish electroplated?

No. This range carries a PVD gold-tone finish over the steel, so we describe it as gold tone with a PVD finish rather than electroplated.

Can I order a mix of chain styles?
