This is a tennis piece, and it is worth saying so plainly. The racket pendant has a broad oval head, a woven grid for the strings and a short handle — a tennis racket — and it is paired with a round tennis ball charm. A single green stone sits in the face of the racket head, and a clear stone in a bezel finishes the cluster. All of it hangs from a smooth snake chain.

The chain and pendants are 316L stainless steel, a marine-grade alloy that does not rust or tarnish and is hypoallergenic for all-day wear; we name the grade rather than calling it 'surgical steel' with no specifics. 316L

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Is the racket a tennis racket?

Yes. The head is a broad oval with a woven grid and a short handle, matched with a round tennis ball charm.

What are the stones?

The clear stones are cubic zirconia, not a natural stone, and one green stone sits in the face of the racket head.

Can I wear it in water?

316L stainless steel does not rust, so the chain is shower-safe and stands up to pool and beach wear. The gold is an 18K gold PVD layer over the steel, so plating thickness is quoted per micron if you need a heavier finish.

What is the nickel content?

316L holds nickel at roughly 10-14%, tightly bound in the alloy, so we would not describe the metal as free of nickel.
