About this acrylic block bangle

The bangle is built as a circle of four curved blocks rather than one moulded ring, which is what gives it the banded look: each block is polished on the outside and meets the next at a gold-tone connector. Three connectors run round the circle, one of them worked as a ribbed coil that sits at the top of the wrist. The blocks are cut wide enough to show the colour as a broad band, and the tortoise colourway carries a patterned cast rather than a flat tone.

The material point matters more than usual here: the four blocks are acrylic, and the acrylic is the body of the bangle. This is not a steel bangle with a resin inlay and it is not plated steel. The metal is limited to the three connectors, and where metal is used it is 316L stainless steel under a gold tone plating. The acrylic keeps the piece light on the wrist and warm to the touch, and the polished face takes colour more deeply than a plated surface does.

316L stainless steel	The three connectors are 316L stainless steel, a marine-grade alloy with molybdenum at roughly 2-3% and chromium at 16-18%, which is why the metal parts do not tarnish. The steel is in the joints only, not in the body.
Gold tone (electroplated)	The gold is an electroplated gold tone over the steel connectors, not a PVD bond; plating thickness is quoted per micron.

316L

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Questions about this acrylic block bangle

Is the bangle steel?

No. The body is four acrylic blocks, polished and cast in colour. The only steel on the piece is the three connectors between the blocks, plated in gold tone.

How many colourways are there?

Four: ivory, dark green, grass green and tortoise brown. Each colourway is quoted and packed as its own line, so you can take one or all four.

Will the tortoise pattern look the same on every piece?

No. The tortoise effect is cast into the acrylic, so the pattern shifts from piece to piece; we confirm the look against a sample before a run so the variation sits inside the range you want.

How does it go on?

It is a hard circle with no hinge and no clasp, so it slips over the hand. That is why it is ordered to the inner diameter you sell rather than to a wrist measurement.
