The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Is the drop amber or a stone?

Neither. The teardrop is cast resin in an amber colour, set under a polished gold-tone cap. It is not natural amber and not a gemstone.

Why resin rather than a real stone?

Resin keeps the colour and the depth even from piece to piece, and it is far lighter on the neck than a cut stone of the same size, so repeats stay consistent across a run.
