About this pearl hand chain range

The form is the point of this listing, so it is worth stating plainly: this is a hand chain, not a bracelet. A ring sits at the finger, a length of fine chain crosses the back of the hand, and a second length closes around the wrist with a lobster clasp and an extender. The two parts are made as one piece, so the ring and the wrist chain are quoted together, and the wrist chain draws up or lets out on the extender to fit. Styles run from plain chain to chain spaced with bezel-set cubic zirconia, to chain set with small pearls, to a version with a colour stone at each station.

The pearls are imitation shell pearl rather than natural seawater pearl, which keeps the size and the lustre even along the run and keeps the cost led by the chain work and the setting rather than by a pearl market. The cubic zirconia is likewise a laboratory stone, not a natural gem. Because the finger ring has to take a little strain when the chain is worn, it is built from the same 316L steel as the chain; tell us your ring size and wrist length and we quote to those, and the ring can also be ordered on its own if your market wants it separately.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Is this a bracelet or a hand chain?

A hand chain. The chain starts at a ring on the finger, crosses the back of the hand and closes around the wrist. The ring and the wrist chain are made as one piece, so they are quoted together.
