Large Cabochon Ring, Chunky Band
Large domed cabochon stones on a thick, rounded band in 316L steel — golden-brown, black and spotted, in gold tone.
Stainless Steel Rings · Stainless Steel · MOQ 50 pcs
An open ring built on two crossing bands, with a single large oval cabochon set above the finger. The stone is a natural one, deep blue with fine gold flecks, so no two cabochons read exactly alike. 316L stainless steel throughout, in gold tone.

Overview
The ring is open by design. Two bands sweep round from the back of the finger and cross beneath the stone, so the front stays open instead of closing into one straight shank. The stone sits in a bezel with claws folded over its edge, held high enough to catch light without standing away from the hand. Because the shank is open, the ring reads as a sculpted piece from the side as well as from above — the angle a plain band loses.
The cabochon is a natural stone rather than a cast or dyed one: deep blue with fine gold flecks running through it, cut as a smooth dome rather than faceted, so the colour sits flat instead of glittering. That means each stone carries its own pattern, and a run will show some variation from piece to piece. If you need a tighter colour match across a run, say so at quote stage and we will select for it rather than shipping whatever comes off the bench.

Materials
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| 316L stainless steel | The bands are 316L, so the ring does not tarnish and stands up to daily wear. |
| Natural stone cabochon | A domed, unfaceted stone, deep blue with fine gold flecks; it is a natural stone, so tone and pattern vary between pieces. |
| Gold tone | Gold tone over steel; plating thickness is quoted per micron at quote stage. |
316L
Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.
Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. If your market needs documentation with the goods, tell us and we will confirm what is available on this design before you order.
| Property | 316L stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Designation | 316L (AISI/ASTM) · SUS316L under JIS · 1.4404 under EN |
| Composition | Chromium 16–18%, nickel 10–14%, molybdenum 2–3%, carbon 0.03% max |
| Why 316L and not 304 or 201 | Molybdenum is what resists chlorides, and neither of the cheaper grades contains any |
| Tarnish and rust | Does not tarnish, and does not rust from everyday wear, sweat or water |
| Skin | Hypoallergenic for most wearers, and not nickel-free — it contains 10–14% nickel by specification |
| Specified for | Surgical implants (ASTM F138) and marine fittings, which is where the “surgical” and “marine grade” labels come from |
Best for
