About this pearl tassel earrings

A chunky huggie sits in the lobe, and below it a single wire run carries three pearls, each joined to the next by a small gold-tone ring so the drop hangs straight and swings as one piece. The pearls are baroque rather than perfectly round, which is what keeps the piece out of a high price band while still reading as real pearl.

It is the pearl drop for a range that already sells pearl necklaces but has no pearl earring to match. The drop is deliberately long and narrow, so it sits against the neck when it moves; worn alone it is a statement, and beside a pearl chain it reads as a set. Because the pearls are baroque they vary a fraction from piece to piece, so no two drops are identical.

The grade, in plain terms

Every design on this page is made in 316L stainless steel — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade, and the same grade specified for surgical implants and marine fittings. The “L” is low carbon, which is what keeps chain links and hollow forms sound at the joins.

Grades are worth stating rather than implying, because 316L, 304 and 201 look identical in a photograph and differ by real money per tonne. We name the grade on every design. Questions about this pearl tassel earrings

Are these real pearls?

Freshwater pearls. They are baroque — irregular ovals rather than perfect spheres — so each piece differs slightly. If you need a specific pearl size or grade, tell us and we will quote it.

How is this different from the pearl necklace on your site?

The pearl station necklace is a fine chain with pearls spaced along it. This is an earring: a hoop with three pearls on a swinging drop, and it is sold as a pair. It is made to go with that necklace rather than to repeat it.

Is the plating thick enough for daily wear?

Gold tone is electroplated over steel and plating is quoted per micron. Tell us the wear environment and we will advise on thickness rather than quoting a single standard.
