A plain round hoop in 316L steel finished in 18K gold PVD. The vacuum-bonded coating is harder and more abrasion-resistant than gold electroplate, and the steel core will not tarnish or irritate a sensitive lobe.

About this gold pvd hoop earrings
The plain hoop is the highest-volume earring shape there is, and the reason it fails is almost always the coating: gold electroplate on a cheap base wears at the hinge and the back of the hoop, then the customer sees the metal underneath. We bond the gold as PVD instead, hard enough to survive daily wear on the edge that rubs most.
Steel is also the reason it can be sold to sensitive ears. 316L contains 10–14% nickel, but the way it is bound in the alloy and the finish over it keep release low, and we can arrange the EN 1811 test for a market that requires the number. The size is the other decision: 12 mm reads delicate, 20 mm and up reads as a statement hoop.

Questions about this gold pvd hoop earrings
Will the gold coating wear off?
PVD wears far more slowly than gold electroplate, because it is bonded in a vacuum at a molecular level and is considerably harder, so it resists the friction at the hinge and the back of the hoop where plated earrings fail first. The honest limit is that any coated surface eventually wears somewhere, so for an earring sold as a lifetime piece we would point you to bare steel. We state the coating thickness in microns on the quotation so the claim is checkable.
Is it safe for sensitive ears?
316L is the grade usually recommended for sensitive ears, and we can support the claim with testing rather than an assertion. For Europe, EN 1811 measures how much nickel leaves the surface rather than how much the alloy contains; the threshold for items in prolonged contact with skin is 0.5 µg/cm²/week. Tell us the market and we will arrange REACH, RoHS and EN 1811 testing as applicable, quoted as its own line.
Which size should I stock?
Start with 15 mm. It is the size that works on almost every ear and reads as a deliberate hoop rather than a stud, so it sells across age groups. Add 20–25 mm once your market shows an appetite for bigger hoops, and 12 mm for customers shopping for a second or third piercing. We can quote a mixed size run so a single tooling covers the range.
