About this sterling huggie hoops
A huggie is a plain hoop with the closure built into it, which is what makes it sell. Because the fit is snug, it does not swing, it does not catch on a collared shirt or a phone, and it stays in for customers who never take their earrings out. At 10–14 mm it reads as a deliberate small hoop rather than an earring the customer forgot.
The closure is the part that decides whether it comes back as a complaint. A hinged snap-post is a post with a V-shaped notch that clicks into the hoop under spring tension; done properly it opens and closes thousands of times. Done cheaply, the hinge loosens. We build the hinge to a set opening-and-closing force and specify the post at a standard 20 gauge so it fits the holes your customer already has.

What is a huggie, and how is it different from a hoop?
A huggie is a small hoop with the closure built into it — usually a hinged post that clicks into the hoop — so it fits close against the ear. A standard hoop has a separate butterfly back and hangs more freely. The practical difference is that a huggie does not swing or catch, which is why customers who wear earrings all day tend to prefer it.
Will it fit a small earlobe?
A 10 mm huggie with a 2 mm tube fits most lobes, including first piercings, because the hoop only needs to clear the lobe edge rather than the whole ear. If your customer has a high or a very small lobe, the 12 mm is the safer default. We can send a pair in each size so you can fit them on a real ear before committing to a run.
Can nickel release testing be arranged?
Yes — REACH and EN 1811 nickel release testing can be arranged to the market you are selling into (the long-term skin-contact limit is 0.5 µg/cm²/week), and the report is quoted and issued for your specification and destination. Silver itself does not rely on nickel, but a plated or soldered component can, so if a buyer needs the document we will source and test against it.
