About this layered fine chain necklace
Layering is what customers want and what they get wrong: chains tangle, sit at the same height, or slide over each other until the look disappears. A multi-chain piece solves that by fixing the drop lengths and joining everything to a single clasp, so the effect is identical every time it is put on.
It is also the most efficient way to sell weight. Three fine chains weigh less than one heavy chain, but the piece reads as more substantial and the price is higher than any one of the three would reach alone. The engineering is in the connector: all the drop chains meet at one point, and that joint takes the load, so we build it in a single casting rather than by soldering three ends together.

Questions about this layered fine chain necklace
Why does one multi-chain piece cost more than three single chains?
Because it is not three chains — it is three chains plus a connector, one clasp and more assembly. The piece also sells at a higher price than its parts for the same reason it costs more: the layered look is the product, and a customer who cannot style it herself will pay for it to be done for her. We quote the connector and the clasp as their own lines, so you can see exactly what the configuration adds.
What drop lengths should I specify?
It depends on the necklines you are selling to. As a starting point, 45 and 50 cm for a two-drop piece, or 40, 45 and 50 cm for three. Keep at least 4–5 cm between drops or they read as one thick chain instead of two. Tell us your market and we will suggest a configuration; it costs nothing to change before the drawing is approved.
Will the chains tangle in a box?
They can, because a fixed connector holds them at one end. The standard fix is a small card the drops are pinned to, or a pouch with a two-point clip. We quote the card as its own line with your artwork on it — for a multi-chain piece it is usually the difference between a good unboxing and a knotted one.
