Overview
A solitaire is a setting job before it is a casting job. The brass head is cast and polished first, then the seat is cut and the stone set by hand, which is why the setting line on the quotation is often the larger of the two. That is also what makes this ring worth specifying carefully: a larger stone and a denser setting change the cost in a way you can see on the page, not a number you have to take on trust.
Brass is what lets the stone-set look reach a low price point at all — the same design in silver would be several times the metal cost. The trade-off is the plating, which is the only thing between the base metal and the customer's skin. We state its thickness per micron so a ring sold as a gift and a ring sold as everyday wear can be quoted as the different products they are.

Sizing
