The hoop is left open, so the earring reads as a C rather than a closed circle and the gap does the work that a hinge would normally do. A cream resin panel covers part of the face, giving the piece a two-tone look without a second metal. The earring is light because the resin replaces what would otherwise be solid metal on the widest part of the hoop.
